Later that decade, they began building the 12 unit motel one cobblestone at a time—a process which took four years to complete. The motel was known as the Copper State Modern Cottages until it was renamed to Copper State Motor Court, then finally as the Copper State Motel. In its heyday, it had a large canopy over its pump island and attracted travelers along Route 66.
The Cooper State Motel was called a motor court because each room had a garage space next to it for where the traveler could park their car.
